About Cate Comerford, AIA, LLC:
An award-winning architect and interior designer, Cate Comerford has built her reputation on creating sensitively designed new construction that blends imperceptibly with the indigenous seaside architecture of the Jersey Shore. Cate began her career designing high-end housing under the tutelage of Eleanore Pettersen, a former apprentice to the esteemed architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Today, her portfolio includes everything from grand old Victorians to Craftsman Bungalows to "new old homes". Her interiors often mix traditional architecture with both antique and contemporary furnishings and fixtures.
Sea Breeze Village, a development of 20 new homes in Ocean Grove, is a project currently underway with 12 homes built. Comerford has skillfully created the facades, incorporating recessed balconies, fanciful ornamented porches, and modulated rooflines. It takes a discerning eye to realize that these are not older homes.
The firm was recently profiled in the November 2008 issue of Period Homes (www.period-homes.com) and the Spring 2008 issue of Jersey Shore magazine. Cate Comerford, AIA has received 10 Beersheba awards for historic preservation in Ocean Grove, a Community Achievement award for a home in Chester Township, and the Monmouth County Freeholders recently awarded her firm a Certificate of Recognition.
