STEVEN R. KROG is a licensed landscape architect in private practice in Pleasantville, New York. The firm, established in 1982, has extensive experience with public, institutional, corporate and residential projects. His seminal article, “Is it Art?”(Landscape Architecture Magazine) established him as a leading advocate for landscape design as a creative medium with the power to employ personal expression as a means of addressing artistic, environmental and social concerns. As a Loeb Fellow in Advanced Environmental Studies at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Krog expanded upon the idea of “creative risk-taking” as a foundation for environmental design and published a series of widely-read articles that continue to influence the work of landscape architects.

Krog’s landscape designs spring from his close attentiveness to clients’ stated and imagined wishes for their gardens, coupled with expansive horticultural knowledge that insures the selection of the right plant for the right place. His style is one of understated elegance, with particular attention to material selection and meticulous detailing. Krog’s gardens frequently utilize indigenous trees and shrubs as a means of enhancing local flora and fauna while minimizing maintenance requirements.
